Moving Days

Welp, we're no longer residents of Arlington, Va.  We're officially nomads for the next month.

We're currently sitting at Mike's Dad's house right now waiting for the call that the movers are on the way.  This is how every morning for the past three days has gone.  We're given a time frame for when the movers will arrive and then wait for a phone call that they're on the way.  Luckily, they've been pretty punctual.

The first day, three guys showed up and packed and moved out all of the stuff that we want to go to Turkey, but don't need immediately (furniture, pictures, random microwavable bacon tray...).  They arrived around 10:30am, but didn't leave until after 7:00 that night.  They worked pretty quickly that morning and afternoon and I'm always amazed at how fast they can pack stuff up.  They kind of slowed down as the evening progressed, but were still a lot faster than what I would have been able to do. What would take us a week to do takes them a few hours.  We watched as our bedroom became a pile of boxes and our common room filled with furniture became a room with an air mattress and a couple of laptops.

The next day, two guys showed up around 12:30 and were there to pack up the stuff we want to have when we get to Turkey (pots and pans, silverware, etc).  These guys were awesome and weren't even there for an hour.  Mike got back from the gym at 1:20 and the movers had come and gone.  I can officially say I have done a military move by myself.  hahahahah.

After the movers left, we closed up the apartment and said farewell to Arlington.  It was such a great first home as newlyweds.  It was small and we complained about some little stuff, but it felt like home whenever we walked in the door.  That apartment will always have a special place in my heart because it was the first place we called home.

We're currently waiting for the movers to come.  In fact, Mike's phone just rang, so I think they're probably close by.  We're lucky because Mike's dad is downsizing and needs to get rid of a bunch of furniture, so we're snagging a bedroom set, some book shelves and a desk.  Oh and let's not forget all the stuff we've been storing at his house all year (thanks!).   Let's just hope that our apartment in Turkey can fit everything!!
